A Stream of Sunshine
I once lived in a brand new home, on the 5th floor of a newly constructed apartment building. It was a modern build with wall to wall windows on one side of the living room.
My favourite thing about this flat was when the clock struck 3 in the afternoon. The sun would stream in and bathe the room with light and warmth; a yellowish orange glow that brought the outside in. I had placed a loveseat on the perfect spot to catch the sun rays, right by the edge of the naked windows yet to be adorned with curtains. I would lay down for a nap and let it sink into my skin.
These are the memories I hold onto when I remember that brand new house; the afternoon flood of sunshine that washed over me, the deep restful naps that resulted from this, and a perfect view of the sunset from my bedroom window.
The sun got me through some dark and dreadful days.
